Blogging has been on the back burner for a while! It's good to be so busy! :0)
For Book of the Week, I'm focusing on a piece of nonfiction! I read Blood Done Sign My Name by Timothy Tyson a couple of years ago, and it has never left my memory. I recommend it to students who need to read a powerful memoir, autobiography or other nonfiction piece. It is reminiscent of To Kill a Mockingbird, although it has it's own voice and story. In reading the first line, readers are brought to a different time and place where the Klan raged. At times times this book was too raw, but I felt compelled to read it. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says, "If you want to read only one book to understand the uniquely American struggle for racial equality and the swirls of emotion around it, this is it."
